Sabrena glared at me from across the room. I slumped way back in my cold hard desk chair like a rag doll. She must have thought how arrogant I was. As the election results rolled in, the shock rippled up my vertebrae, and my jaw dropped. I won. I won! Wait, I beat Sabrena? One thought dominated my thinking. That day hadn’t gone as planned. Why did they choose me?

I, however, wielded silent observation and poignant commentary as my tools of choice. I churned through work and ignored influencing others. I spoke up to maintain fairness and diplomacy. Otherwise, I veered away from the day-to-day high school drama. But I was also the clever kid who devised secret plans to get what he needed.
